Meet The Team Behind Miss Universe Philippines

As the decade ends, it is time for Binibining Pilipinas to bid adieu to the Miss Universe franchise. The news of Binibining Pilipinas renouncing the Miss Universe Philippines franchise erupted as a volcano in the pageant industry. Led under the supervision of Stella Araneta, Binibining Pilipinas produced four Filipino Miss Universe alongside nine runners up and ten semi-finalists at the Miss Universe pageant. The country became a powerhouse at the said pageant while it continued its ten years placement streak, a feat which many powerhouse countries fail to achieve.

However, subsequent to many speculations few weeks ago until it was made official, Binibining Pilipinas publicly announced that the Miss Universe franchise no longer belongs to them. Soon the new Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced that the newly shortlisted contestants will be mentored by none other than Shamcey Supsup Lee, who will now serve as the National Director of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant and will begin her quest to find Miss Universe Philippines 2020 who shall be representing the Philippines at Miss Universe 2020 pageant. Shamcey Supsup was crowned as Miss Universe Philippines by Binibining Pilipinas Organization in 2011 and eventually finished as the third runner up at Miss Universe 2011.

The Miss Universe Philippines Organization will also witness the involvement of Albert Andrada, who will be serving as the Design Council Head, Jonas Gaffud , who will take the charge of Creative Director and Lia Ramos, who will serve as the Head of Women Empowerment Committee and Charity, looking after the advocacy of the delegates. They will be joined by Atty. Nad Bronce, who will be serving as the Head of Legal Affairs alongside Mario Garcia, who takes the charge of Business Development & Marketing Head.

Beginning it’s new venture, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization took over the social media handle to express, “The Miss Universe Organization is thrilled to announce its partnership with the Miss Universe Philippines Organization – a fresh team that will lead the country towards its continued quest to share the beauty and grace of the Filipina to the rest of the world,” the post on MUP Facebook page read. Rooted in the same strong foundations that have earned the country title after title in the past half century, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization is poised to bring the Miss Universe franchise to greater heights.”

Miss Earth 2019- Final Hotpicks and Concluding Review!

Miss Earth 2019- Final Predictions For The Crown!

Miss Earth 2019 will be the 19th edition of the Miss Earth pageant which is scheduled to take place tomorrow evening, that is, on October 26th, 2019 at Cove Manila, Okada Manila in Parañaque City, Philippines. Nguyễn Phương Khánh of Vietnam will crown her successor as the new Miss Earth at the end of the event. While this much anticipated countdown has already begun, like every year I am here to present my final choices for the crown after analyzing all the aspects. So here we go!

On the first position is none other than the charming, beautiful and eloquent Tejaswini Manogna from India. If the competition is assessed from the neutral stance, I believe Tejaswini has everything to win the Miss Earth crown. If she is crowned as the next Miss Earth, her eloquence will not only promote the Miss Earth advocacy in a positive light but will also have an everlasting impact on people following Miss Earth as she stands as the epitome of a strong new age woman. Having so many accolades in her kitty, I would say sky is the limit for this fine woman. If she wins tomorrow, well, no surprises, but if she doesn’t then I would say India might have another strong representative to Miss Universe if she plans to come back!

On number two is Nellys Pimentel from Puerto Rico. Just like India, what I really admire in Nellys is her consistency in the competition. While some front runners just enjoy the talk and attention they have been giving, others believe in constantly enhancing and presenting a better version of themselves before the audience, and Nellys falls in the latter category! She can be a rightful owner of the crown, and if not, she certainly deserves a runner up position.

Following her at number three is Diana Shabas from Ukraine. Diana made a terrific entry to the competition during the Form and Figure Competition and since then there has been no looking back for her! After her placement in semi-finals, I guess there shall be no more hurdles in her way to make her space in the final four if she plays her cards well as she always does! She has a commendable stage presence and her impressive body language just makes it difficult for anyone to ignore her.

Next we have, Evelyn Appiah from Ghana. While she has been crowd’s favourite and has justly proved so by even acing all the pre-pageant competitions and even bagging several gold medals in them, I believe when it comes to eloquence we have some really tough competitors in the game who can give her a neck to neck fight. However, having said that, an African victory at Miss Earth has been long overdue, so who knows if this is her time!

Following closely the Top 4 is Emanii Davis from the United States of America. While she has a strong sash to bear at the competition and was even people’s favourite when the competition began, her momentum seems to have slowed down a bit as many dark horses have took over the game, but still you mustn’t believe that the lioness has fallen asleep. Don’t be surprised if she is called in the Top 4 tomorrow.

Next we have the utterly gorgeous, Alisa Manenok from Belarus. She comes across as a living doll. She has played her cards really well till this point of time and I expect the same from her in the finale as well.

Sonia Hernandez from Spain and Klara Vavruskova from Czech Republic sum up my Top 8 list. Both these ladies came fiercely into the competition quite late, especially when their wit was brought into spotlight, but it’s always better to be late than never, so expect pleasant surprises from both of them in the finale.

Concluding my Top 16 semi-finalists lists are Philippines, Colombia, Venezuela, Portugal, Poland, South Africa, Australia and England. All of these representatives have shown their fascinating aura in all the pre-pageant activities throughout the competition. Apart from that their intellect, body language and persona reflect that they are worthy of securing their spots in the semi-finals.

Other possible stand outs from the very tough batch would be Mexico, Korea, Vietnam and New Zealand, who have the calibre to penetrate into semi-finals.

Who are you rooting for to wear the Miss Earth crown? Let me know in the comment section below, until next post, see you soon! 🙂

Miss Earth 2019- First Impressions and Initial Stand Outs!

Miss Earth 2019- First Hotpicks Post Arrival

Miss Earth 2019 kicked off with every bit of vigour and enthusiasm last week and the batch seems out to be a really fascinating one! With the delegates being divided into three different groups namely Water, Air and Fire, the pre-pageant activities and competitions are still ongoing, we have our first impressions right here after witnessing the Press Presentation of Miss Earth 2019 delegates. So what are we waiting for! Let’s begin!

Potential Winners

India- Tejaswini Manogna

India- Tejaswini Manogna

I am in awe with this beauty! With one of the most remarkable credentials among other contestants, Tejaswini confidently stood out in the press presentation with her assertive demeanour and sweet yet convinced voice. Not only she gives a breeze of vivaciousness but also gives a hint of India’s strong comeback at Miss Earth pageant. Being a doctor, Bharatanatyam dancer, Carnatic vocalist, yoga practitioner, sports person, motivational speaker, philanthropist, and a medal-winning NCC cadet, she has also conducted many environmental awareness programme back in her nation. Don’t be surprised if she goes ahead and clinch the elemental crown or even the Miss Earth crown!

United States of America- Emanii Davis

United States- Emanii Davis

Just like Miss India Earth, Tejaswini, Emanii Davis has also been a pageant veteran in few of the leading national pageants of USA, which explains the eloquence she reflects at the Miss Earth pageant. Having a strong and powerful advocacy like developing the greenhouse from all the recycled materials, Emanii has also actively promoted environmental awareness programme in elementary schools in the United States. She oozes confidence and appears to be highly resolute.

Purerto Rico- Nellys Pimentel

Puerto Rico- Nellys Pimentel

Apart from India and USA, Puerto Rico seemed to be one of the striking stand outs in the Press Presentation. I loved the way she precisely and concisely expressed about herself without speaking too much. She is certainly a force to reckon with at this moment. Assertive, graceful and eye-catching, she is bound to foray ahead.

Ghana-  Abena Appiah

Ghana- Abena Appiah

She was certainly one of the most loved and cheered delegates at the Press Presentation for obvious reasons! Apart from being a pageant veteran like many of her fellow contestants, she is also a renowned singer back in her country. Abena has already represented Ghana at the Miss Universe 2014 pageant and in addition holds the experience of representing the state of New York at the America’s Miss World 2017. Lately, she has also been awarded with the gold medal in the Resort Wear Competition from the Air Group at Miss Earth 2019, she has certainly built the momentum.

Stand Outs From The Press Presentation

Many delegates turned out to be pleasant surprise during the Press Presentation, while some much acclaimed candidates lacked spark at the same, so without further ado, let’s talk about them!

Africa

I completely loved the way Ghana has emerged from this continental group at the pageant. She has been the talk of the town for a while now, and closely following her is none other than Nazia Wadee from South Africa. Besides being spontaneous, Nazia is also eloquent and comes across as highly intellectual and fresh candidate. I also liked Kenya and South Sudan from the African continent.

America

While USA and Puerto Rico seem to be leading the sash of American continent at the pageant, Mexico, Colombia, Panama and Venezuela also seem to be doing well. If I were to choose a winner from this group, my vote would go certainly to USA.

Asia and Oceania

If I were to trust my instincts, I believe the winner of Miss Earth 2019 might come from this region.  There are many lovely candidates from this continental group, one of them being Susana Downes from Australia, this half Filipina beauty speaks straight from her heart. Further, I also love Woo Hee-jun from Korea, who believes in taking care of earth just like one would take care of his body.  She holds many accolades.  I also like the host delegate, Janelle Tee from the Philippines, who also seems very well prepared for this nerve wrecking competition.

Europe

When compared to other continental groups, Europe seems to be the weakest. However, we have a very promising candidate from this group, who could also emerge as the front runner for the crown if she plays her cards well. She is none other than Alisa Manenok from Belarus. While she has already represented her nation at Miss International 2016 pageant wherein she emerged as the Top 15 finalist and has also won the World Beauty Queen 2018 pageant, she seems to be much more prepared than her former stint at pageants. Besides Alisa, my eyes are fixed on Stephanie Wyatt from England, who is an environmental lawyer, her eloquence is way too good to be applauded. Some other stand outs from the European continent would be Spain, Netherlands, Ukraine and Croatia.

So this sums up my first impression about Miss Earth 2019 batch! Tell me your favourites in the link below by voting for your most loved candidate for the title of Miss Earth 2019, until then keep watching this space for more updates and exciting reviews!

The Actual Story Behind Catriona Gray’s Final Look at Miss Universe 2018!

A Closer Look At Catriona Gray’s Miss Universe Finale Look!

In the recently concluded grand finale of Miss Universe pageant, Catriona Gray was crowned as Miss Universe 2018, becoming the fourth woman from Philippines to win the Miss Universe title. Every year after the Miss Universe pageant culminates, we scrutinize the story behind the winning evening gown, but this time it is much more than the designer and the design. Catriona Gray, who has now officially become the fourth Filipino to win the Miss Universe pageant, wore a mesmerizing evening gown by the ace designer, Mak Tumang.

Catriona’s winning evening gown was inspired by the Mayon Volcano in her hometown, Albay, which also explains the popular terminology behind her famous “lava” walk. Her now-iconic earcuff by Tessera Jewelry, which she was also seen donning during the coronation gala of Binibining Pilipinas 2018, is a tribute to the 3 stars and sun in the Philippines flag. Catriona kept her hair side swept to showcase the beautiful ear cuffs.

Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray expressed in the post-pageant press conference that the colour of her finale gown is extra-significant, because her mother beforehand dreamed that she joined and won the Miss Universe competition wearing a red gown.

Truly, the stars aligned in her favour to conquer the universe!

Catriona Gray Crowned Miss Universe 2018, Gives Philippines its Fourth Miss Universe Crown!

Catriona Gray From Philippines Wins Miss Universe 2018

Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray from Philippines was crowned as Miss Universe 2018 in the 67th edition of the Miss Universe pageant which took place on December 16, 2018 at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. She becomes the fourth woman from Philippines to claim the Miss Universe title following Pia Wurtzbach‘s tumultuous footsteps after 3 years. As Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray succeeds Demi Leigh Nel Peters from South Africa.

Catriona Gray was a much acclaimed face in the pageant industry right since 2016 when she was crowned as Miss World Philippines 2016 and later went on to become a Top 5 finalist at Miss World 2016.

Meanwhile, Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green, who was vying to retain the Miss Universe crown in South Africa for another consecutive year settled down for the first runner up position. Miss Venezuela, Sthefany Gutiérrez did complete justice to her strong sash as she ended as the second runner up in the coronation gala of Miss Universe 2018. Our predicted winner, Miss Puerto Rico, Kiara Ortega was adjudged as the Top 5 finalist along with Miss Vietnam, H’Hen Niê.

Unlike in recent years, the contestants were trimmed down to 20 semi-finalists. The initial semi-finalists were chosen through a closed-door interview and a preliminary competition held few days back. The continental format which was introduced in the 2017 competition sustained, with the top twenty consisting of five semi-finalists from Europe, five from the Americas, five from Africa and Asia-Pacific, and five wildcards which could come from any continental grouping. This was the first time in Miss Universe history when the initial semi-finalists did not all compete in the swimsuit competition, however, the Top 10 finalists did compete in both the swimsuit and evening gown, based on which the judges came up with a Top 5. The Top 5 competed in the Q&A portion, and were then cut down to a top three. The Top 3 then participated in the final word and final look portions, and the judges came up with their Miss Universe 2018 winner and her two runners-up.

This year seven judges, an all-female panel decided the fate of the Miss Universe contestants, which included- Liliana Gil Valletta (Colombian-American businesswoman and entrepreneur), Janaye Ingram (American political organizer and Miss New Jersey USA 2004), Monique Lhuillier (Filipino-American fashion designer), Michelle McLean (Miss Universe 1992 from Namibia), Iman Oubou (Moroccan-American scientist, entrepreneur, medical missionary, and former beauty pageant titleholder), Bui Simon (Miss Universe 1988 from Thailand) and Richelle Singson-Michael (Filipino businesswoman and architect).
