Thailand Wins TKOP Reader’s Choice Poll for Miss Universe 2016

Miss Universe 2016 will be the 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant. Miss Universe 2016 is slated to take place on January 30, 2017 in Manila, Philippines. This year more than 80 countries will compete for the title of Miss Universe 2016, hoping to be crowned by Pia Wurtzbach from Philippines  as next Miss Universe.

While the pageant is only few hours away, the readers of The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry have already decided their winner for the grand finale of Miss Universe 2016. The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry ran a poll inviting the pageant enthusiasts across the world to vote for their favourite contestant to walk home with the crown of Miss Universe. So without any further delay, let’s disclose the winner of the reader’s poll of Miss Universe 2016.

Miss Universe Thailand, Chalita Suansane won the Reader’s Choice Poll with 60.27% votes (1,476,936+ votes). Charismatic as an angel and beautiful as a queen, Chalita Suansane made waves right before coming to Manila, Philippines and the buzz she created augmented even more when the lady gave terrific appearances in various events and press conferences.

21 years old, Chalita Suansane is currently studying Microbiology at Mahasarakham University. Ever since Suansane was young, she was often curious and eager to learn new things, including a passion to explore living organisms that you cannot see by the eyes. On top of her studies, Suansane volunteers at ‘Baan Home Hug’ which is an orphanage that houses children who have inherited HIV from their parents, children who were abused, and children who have lost their family. If crowned, she would like to raise awareness and advocate for HIV/AIDS.

Standing 5 feet 7 inches tall, Chalita Suansane was also among my favourite performers during the preliminary competition both in the swimsuit round and evening gown round. In my final prediction, I predicted her to enter Top 6 of Miss Universe pageant. Thailand last won 29 years ago and I potentially see a possible Miss Universe from Thailand this year. 🙂

Wishing all the best to the winner of Reader’s Poll of The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry, Chalita Suansane.

Miss Universe 2016: The Best and Worst Dressed Queens

Talking about Miss Universe and you miss the discussion on the worst and best evening gowns? Bizarre ain’t it? So how could I miss to present my ideas on which evening gown impressed me with the charisma and which horrendously horrified me. In my former article, I expressed my views on the best evening gown round performances, but here my attention is not how the girl carried herself in the evening gown but solely on how impressive a particular evening gown is. So let’s go!

The Gowns Which Were a HIT

Brazil- Raissa Santana

2-mu-preliminary-nppa
Brazil

Everyone remember the graceful and fierce performance of Miss Brazil, but what one can never forget is the beautiful evening gown which accentuated the beauty of the exotic beauty. On the preliminary competition eve, Raissa Santana was found wearing a creation of Alexandre Herchcovitch. The gown had floral appliques embellished with hundreds of precious crystals from Bohemia, Czech Republic. The gown is totally a ten on ten!

India- Roshmitha Harimurthy

India_Gown.png
India

It’s after a long long time that Miss India has been given such a magnificent evening gown. This beautiful gown was designed by Swapnil Shinde. Everything about this gown was sheer perfection! From the plunging neckline, charming bead work and full length sleeves, the cold red coloured gown shouted loud elegance and radiance!

France- Iris Mittenaere

France (1).jpg
France

Not any typical evening gown, Iris’s sunburst yellow sequined off shoulder gown was totally highlighting her ethereal beauty. From the perfectly fitted shape which accentuated her curves, the mermaid shaped gown was a hit, crammed with a lot of grace and elegance. The colour was a stand out in the crowd!

Mexico- Kristal Silva

mexico
Mexico

Kristal Silva is known for her fierce persona and in that beautiful evening gown she did not look less than a queen. The crystal embellished evening gown and the high slit made her look congenial all the more!

Ukraine- Alena Spodynyuk

ukraine
Ukraine

This Ziad Nakad evening gown deserves a standing ovation! What a masterpiece! If Alena Spodynyuk places in the semi-finals tonight, this evening gown is surely responsible for taking her one step closer to it.

The Gowns Which Were a MISS

Kazakhstan- Darina Kulsitova

kazhakstan
Kazakhstan

This evening gown was the biggest miss of the pageant. Though designed nicely and embellished with lots of precious gems, the delegate representing the gown could not even stand properly. Her weary body language every time she held on the pleats to walk was easily visible.

Bolivia- Antonella Moscatelli

bolivia
Bolivia

This evening gown looked more like a gift wrapping paper than a dress to be worn at a major event like Miss Universe. The colour was quite pale and the laces and ribbons just made the entire appearance quite shoddy.

Sweden- Ida Ovmar

sweden
Sweden

If you noticed, she wore the same evening gown in the National Costume Round. The gown appeared more to be the collection of solitaire cards and less of an impactful dress to highlight a beauty queen’s beauty on a pageant like Miss Universe.

Myanmar- Htet Htet Htun

myanmar
Myanmar

We have already seen so many cupcakes and ribbon memes with respect to evening gowns presented in former editions of Miss Universe, and this one joins the cluster of the very same club. The colour seems too harsh on eyes, and instead of highlighting the delegate’s beauty it makes her look a bit timid and bulky.

Croatia- Barbara Filipović

croatia
Croatia

The evening gown tried to replicate Oxana Fedorova’s style with minimal changes and was totally a flop. The evening gown appeared more like a casual sundress to be worn on a casual day out. The length issues and styling overall just made the entire look a miss.

Which was your favourite evening gown of the entire pageant? Do share your views in the comment section below.

Miss Universe 2016 Evening Gown Round: Post Preliminary Thoughts!

Miss Universe is the only pageant which keeps each and every pageant enthusiast glued to the updates throughout the pageant, and the preliminary competition last night just acted as the camphor to blazing fire. Yesterday, I revealed my ten favourite swimsuit performances in the preliminary competition of 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant and today I am here with my favourites in the evening gown segment of the very same event.

I am as thrilled as you all are to share my opinions, views and favourite performances before you, so let’s get started!  In no particular order here are the best performances of the evening gown round in the prelims-

Argentina- Estefanía Bernal

That beautiful gown just became even more wonderful as soon as the poised lady took the stage by storm. She had fierceness, royalty and spunk to stun the audience. I am totally rooting for Argentina to do wonders on finale.

argentina
Argentina

Colombia- Andrea Tovar

Andrea Tovar gave one of the best performances in the evening gown round. Although her gown seemed a bit hideous to me, her energetic and vibrant performance just took the eyes and hearts to another world.

colombia
Colombia

France- Iris Mittenaere

If you were to ask me name only one woman who slayed the evening gown round, without a second thought I would have said France. What a queenly aura! She totally has the winner vibes in her personality and her regal performance definitely reflected the same.

france
France

Brazil- Raissa Santana

Brazil was fiercely commendable in the evening gown segment. The beautiful evening gown looked even gorgeous when worn by such a pretty woman who confidently flaunted its beauty on the prelims stage.

brazil
Brazil

Philippines- Maxine Medina

Playful, radiant and sparkling would be few words to sum up Maxine Medina’s performance during the evening gown round of the prelims. She delivered it quite well.

philippines
Philippines

Mexico- Kristal Silva

She knows how to do all the talking with those bold and expressive eyes. Kristal Silva burnt the stage with her poised yet magnificently fierce performance during the evening gown round. She has totally locked her spot in semi-finals if all goes well.

mexico
Mexico

Nicaragua- Marina Jacoby

Elegant, charming and dainty is what Marina Jacoby redefines each times she takes over the stage. I am certainly expecting to see her performance once again in the finale eve, it would be really heartbreaking if such a stunning woman misses the cut.

nicaragua
Nicaragua

Thailand- Chalita Suansane

Not a fan of the evening gown, but the way Chalita Suansane carried herself in the eveing gown is beyond praiseworthy. She aced the segment with those queenly expressions, bold eyes and sassy yet elegant walk.

thailand
Thailand

Ukraine- Alena Spodynyuk

I am now a fan of Ukraine after seeing her royal performance in the evening gown round. Alena Spodynuk was talk of the pageant town right from the moment she was crowned as Miss Ukraine and her last night’s performance definitely assures why she is still in the running for the Miss Universe crown.

Ukraine

Venezuela- Mariam Habach

Swagger she owns and she knows it! Mariam Habach’s surprise element was totally cheered, appreciated and loved not just by the pageant enthusiasts but also the critics all around the world. Venezuela taught once again what it is to be the powerhouse of pageants!

So these are my favourites in the evening gown round of preliminary competition, do not forget to tell me who won your hearts in this segment in the comment section.

Miss Universe 2016: Final Hotpicks and Concluding Opinions

And after all hullabaloos, speculations and expectations we are finally one step away from the grand finale of 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant.  What an adventurous roller coaster ride this pageant has been, not just for the contestants but also for the pageant enthusiasts who kept on rummaging every nooks and corners of the pageant town with bated breath.

Assumed to be make it or break it round of Miss Universe pageant, wherein you earn what you deliver, I have finally come up with my twelve picks for the title of Miss Universe 2016. The jury panel have already sealed their Top 12 after last night’s preliminary competition and the pageant critics and fans are passionately jotting down their favourites at social media and public forums. So without further delay, I am unfolding my Top 12 for Miss Universe 2016 right here!

Top 3

Topping my leaderborad is none other than Iris Mittenaere from France. It has been ages since France has won the Miss Universe crown and this gorgeous European has everything what it takes to be crowned as the next Miss Universe. She owns a sassy walk, vibrant aura and fierce face to stand out in the crowd. Not only that, she is eloquent enough to gain a spotlight if she enters the Top 6 finalist spot during the interview round. France has won the Miss Universe crown only once and that too back in 1953 and after 64 years Iris Mittenaere can definitely be the rescuer of the glorious nation!

france

Succeeding right behind France is Mariam Habach from Venezuela. Venezuela is the powerhouse of pageants and it would not be a surprise if Mariam slays the grand finale of the Miss Universe pageant just like the preliminary competition. Initially I wasn’t the fan of Mariam Habach, but as days passed on by her flawless performances at the ramp just made me fall in love with her charismatic aura. In my post preliminary review, I called Mariam Habach the “star of the show”, and I have no qualms regarding it even now. Venezuela already has seven crowns and this pretty woman has everything to be eighth winner from her country if IMG/WME is ready to crown Venezuela soon in the interval of four years.

venezuela

Completing my top three is Raissa Santana from Brazil. What a wonderful trivia it would be if the reigning Miss USA, Deshauna Barber and Miss Universe would be both black ladies! Raissa Santana with her exotic skin tone, confident vibe and breathtaking styling has proved why she is here in Manila, Philippines. Since 1968, Brazil has not won the Miss Universe crown and I believe this is the moment when the nation can be rest assured for their high notch placement. Brazil is definitely in the race of Miss Universe crown after the power packed performances in preliminary competition.

brazil

Top 6

It’s Argentina’s year at Miss Universe. After the elegant, energetic and impressive performance, Estefanía Bernal is certainly in my wish list for the Miss Universe crown. Argentina has won the Miss Universe crown only once and that too in 1962, this time the country can come closest to winning the much cherished title once again without a second thought.

argentina

Andrea Tovar from Colombia is another sturdy contestant to watch out for the Miss Universe crown. Colombia’s unwavering performance at Miss Universe pageant is commendable and maintaining that splendid momentum is Andrea Tovar with the sash that screams out loud, Colombia. It is undeniable that Andrea has delivered flawlessly throughout the pageant, but what happened last year in Las Vegas with Ariadna Gutierrez might get compensated when the pageant is happening in Philippines. Andrea Tovar with her ten on ten aura and that extra edge will surely rock the finale the coming Sunday!

colombia

Chalita Suansane from Thailand completes my Top 6. I totally loved this lady! What a daunting sensation she gives when she glides like a dream on the ramp! Her preliminary performance was a treat to eyes, especially in the evening gown round. If only she could change her evening gown in finale, her chances of getting far would broaden a lot. Thailand has surely come a long way and after last year’s Top 10 placement expect another fantastic placement of the country this year at Miss Universe.

thailand

Top 9

Maxine Medina from Philippines is definitely going to continue its country’s placement at Miss Universe pageant for eighth consecutive time. Maxine Medina is congenial in her appearance and with that great crowd cheering for her pleasant performance would only prove as the cherry on the cake.

philippines

Kristal Silva from Mexico is definitely one to watch for! The beautiful woman knows how to own the stage when she walks on it with utter poise, grace and fierce eyes. She smashes and burns the ramp with that palpable charisma. Mexico totally deserves to earn a spot in semi-finals or may be finals this year at Miss Universe pageant.

mexico

Completing my Top 9 is Kezia Warouw from Indonesia. Indonesia has been delivering really well at international pageants since last few years and seeing Kezia performing so beautifully is no surprise. Although Kezia tripped during the preliminary evening gown round performance but have we not seen that this tripping has always acted as the lucky charm for ladies in the Miss Universe pageant? 😉 Last year’s winner, Pia Wurtzbach also handled herself gracefully as she tripped during the evening gown round in the finale and that’s why Kezia’s chances of getting a commendable spot in Miss Universe 2016 should not be considered as slim at all. The magic she beholds in her persona is totally worth dying for!

indonesia

Top 12

I am expecting Alena Spodynyuk from Ukraine to enter the semi-finals after I saw her incredibly graceful and regal performance during the evening gown round in the preliminary competition. The way she carried herself reminded me of Diana Harkusha, who finished as the second runner up to Miss Universe 2014. Alena Spodynyuk stands for royalty, grace and ethereal beauty and she totally has what it takes to crack the semi-finals.

ukraine

Following her is Marina Jacoby from Nicaragua. She is tall, beautiful and polished. She came across as a stand out in many pre pageant activities and it is not easy to ignore this charming diva. Though the country lacks the sash factor, I believe that Marina’s performance in the prelims was worthy enough to earn her a placement in semi-finals.

nicaragua

Keity Drennan from Panama closes my Top 12. She was great in the preliminary competition and came across as a pleasant surprise of the eve. With that vigorous personality that stands confidently with poise on the stage, she should definitely get her due in the grand finale of Miss Universe pageant.

panama

Almost There

Unlike every year when either fifteen or sixteen candidates compete for the title of Miss Universe in the grand finale, we will witness only twelve candidates vying for the crown. As a consequence, the competition is literally a nail biting one where many things might depend on luck. Had there been fifteen semi-finalists, Caris Tiivel from Australia with her saccharine vibes, Roshmitha Harimurthy from India with her congenial aura and Deshauna Barber from USA with her eloquent persona might have cracked the semi-finals.

So these were my picks for the title of Miss Universe 2016. Who are you rooting for as the winner of much awaited title? Do not forget to share your favourites with me in the comment section.

Miss Universe 2016 will be the 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant. Miss Universe 2016 is slated to take place on January 30, 2017 in Manila, Philippines. Meanwhile, do not forget to vote for your favorite contestant in this link below. Brazil- Raissa Santana

She was hyped many felt initially, but tonight she just justified the hype around her. Raissa Santana can totally give her country another Miss Universe crown if she continues to give the similar commendable performance on the grand finale eve, because I am already expecting that she has locked her spot in the semi-finals.

Colombia- Andrea Tovar

colombia
Colombia

Colombia is back with another strong delegate at Miss Universe! The bars raised so high by the country since last two years by Paulina Vega wearing the Miss Universe crown and her successor Ariadna Gutierrez almost winning it back to back, is surely going to be maintained with a shrewd delegate like Andrea wearing the sash of Colombia.

France- Iris Mittenaere

france
France

Smart women never make the sound by their lips but by their actions and Iris Mittenaere is certainly one of them! Months ago when she was crowned as Miss France, I was sure that she is a force to reckon with and tonight she totally proved me right. Loved her vibe totally! Don’t be surprised if you hear the name of France in Top 6 again this year.

Indonesia- Kezia Warouw

indonesia
Indonesia

This gorgeous woman has come a long way. Indonesia has never been able to surpass the swimsuit round but this year, I reckon that the country is going to slay the swimsuit round and move on to the evening gown round with all vigour, and who knows the nation might create another glorious history with Kezia Warouw representing Indonesia so beautifully.

Mexico- Kristal Silva

There is something in her eyes which no one else can replicate! The magic her body language embodies is totally beyond imagination and Mexico totally deserves to enjoy all the attention she has been getting since the day she was crowned as Miss Mexico.

Panama- Keity Drennan

panama
Panama

There have always been women who prove out to be pleasant surprises post the preliminary competition and this year its Keity Drennan. That energy, synergy and radiance will certainly land her a spot in semi-finals.

Philippines- Maxine Medina

The host girl nailed the swimsuit round with her vigorous, lively and affirmative aura. She came across as a pleasant and vibrant personality at stage.

Thailand- Chalita Suansane

Venezuela- Mariam Habach

Venezuela

Representing the powerhouse country is no joke baby, because you got to meet the expectations on a really high note, and Mariam knew it well in advance. It would not be wrong to say that she was the star of tonight’s eve. What a stellar performance! I am totally speechless to express the charm Mariam’s performance embodied.
