Grainne Gallanagh Crowned Miss Universe Ireland 2018
Grainne Gallanagh was crowned as Miss Universe Ireland 2018 on August 2, 2018. She succeeds Cailín Áine Ní Toibín as the new Miss Universe Ireland and will now represent Ireland at Miss Universe 2018, hoping to succeed Demi Leigh Nel Peters of South Africa as the next Miss Universe.
The newly crowned Miss Universe Ireland 2018, Grainne Gallanagh is a science graduate and a nurse by profession. She is also associated with issues like female health and empowerment and hopes to open her own health clinic that will establish new community standards for modern medicine and help.
During the same event, Aoife Ruttledge was adjudged as the first runner up, Cathy Costello was titled as the second runner up, Rebekah Shirley was announced as the third runner up and Melanie Edel Delaney finished as the fourth runner up.
Ireland has been participating at Miss Universe pageant since 1961 but has never won the Miss Universe crown. Cailín Toibín was the last representative from Ireland to place in the semi-finals in 2017.
