Selma Kamanya Crowned Miss Universe Namibia 2018
Selma Kamanya was crowned as Miss Universe Namibia 2018 during the grand finale of Miss Namibia 2018 which took place on July 7, 2018 at the Country Club Resort in Windhoek. She succeeds Suné January as the new Miss Universe Namibia and will now represent Namibia at Miss Universe 2018 wherein Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa will crown her successor as next Miss Universe.
The newly crowned Miss Universe Namibia, Selma Kamanya holds a diploma in Economics. The 21 years old beauty queen is currently a student at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).
During the same event, Clarise van Der Vyver was titled as the first runner up while Kabuba Namukokoba was adjudged as the second runner up. Meanwhile, Alexis van der Merwe and Wilri van Taak ended up as Top 5 finalists.
Namibia has been participating at Miss Universe pageant since 1980 and has won one Miss Universe crown till date under the representation of Michelle McLean in 1992. Ndapewa Alfons was the last representative from Namibia to place at Miss Universe pageant in 2003 when she was adjudged as the Top 10 finalist.
