Sophida Kanchajanarin Crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2018
Sophida Kanchajanarin was crowned as Miss Universe Thailand 2018 on June 30, 2018 at Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon in Bangkok. She succeeds Maria Poonlertlarp as the new Miss Universe Thailand and will now represent Thailand at Miss Universe 2018 wherein Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa will crown her successor as next Miss Universe.
The newly crowned Miss Universe Thailand, Sophida Kanchajanarin is 23 years old and stands 5’6.5 tall. She took up Business Administration major in finance at University of Nevada and is currently working as a manager of Thai Military Bank.
During the same event, Thitaree Kasorn was titled as the first runner up, Jubjib Palita was adjudged as the second runner up, Praveenar “Veena” Singh was announced as the third runner up and Valentina Giardullo Ploy finished as the fourth runner up.
Thailand has been placing at Miss Universe pageant consecutively since last three years. Porntip Nakhirunkanok was the second and last Thai woman till date to wear the crown of Miss Universe in 1988. Apasra Hongsakula was the first woman from Thailand to win Miss Universe pageant in 1965.
