India Williams Crowned Miss California USA 2017

India Williams from Santa Monica was crowned Miss California USA 2017 on December 4, 2016 at the Long Beach Convention Center. She succeeds Nadia Mejia and will now represent California in the coming edition of Miss USA 2017, wherein Deshauna Barber of District of Columbia will pass on her crown to her successor.

During the coronation gala,Catherine Watters from Gold Cost was titled as the first runner up,Victoria Olona from Beverly Hills was adjudged as the second runner up, Carly Diamond Stone from Laguna Beach was announced as the third runner-up and Brittany Payne from Kern County finished as the fourth runner up.

During the same event, Jaanu Patel of Huntington Beach was crowned Miss California Teen USA 2017.  She will represent California at Miss Teen USA 2017, whereby Karlie Hay of Texas will crown her successor.

Alyssa Campanella was the last representative from California to win Miss USA crown. The state has won five Miss USA crowns till date under the representation of Terry Huntingdon (1959), Maria Remenyi (1966), Summer Bartholomew (1975), Julie Hayek (1983), Shannon Marketic (1992) and Alyssa Campanella (2011), and holds a good placement record at the said pageant. Last year, Nadia Mejia of California was amongst the Top 5 finalists of Miss USA 2016.
