Miss America 2017 Jury Panel Will Witness Rio Olympics Gold Medalists
Miss America 2017 is the 96th edition of Miss America pageant and is slated to take place on September 11, 2016 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In the conclusion of the Miss America 2017 pageant, Betty Cantrell from Georgia will pass on her crown to her successor.
While United States of America has managed to walk home with maximum number of medals in the Rio Olympics, the Miss America pageant is welcoming the two dazzling gold medalists of USA, Gabby Douglas and Laura Marano in its jury panel.
The announcement was made official on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Miss America Official Facebook Page. Gracing the jury panel apart from Olympic gymnast, Gabby Douglas and musician and actress, Laura Marano will be Sharlene Wells Hawkes, Cole Swindell, Sara Foster and Mark Cuban.
Chris Harrison will return as host of Miss America pageant for his eighth year, alongside Sage Steele, who would be taking the Miss America stage for the very first time.
Miss America 2017 contestants will be judged on the basis of talent performances and interview. The event will be broadcast by ABC in the United States, the first in the network’s newest agreement to carry the pageant until 2019, with Dick Clark Productions producing the ceremony. 52 candidates will be vying to succeed Betty Cantrell of Georgia as next Miss America.
