Evelyn Njambi was crowned as Miss World Kenya 2016 after Roshanara Ebrahim was stripped from her title a week ago. Evelyn Njambi will now represent Kenya in the coming edition of Miss World, hoping to succeed Mireia Lalaguna Royo of Spain as the next titleholder.

Last week, Roshanara Ebrahim was dethroned due to breaching the contract laid by Miss World Kenya Organization. As the runner up of dethroned Miss World Kenya, Roshanara Ebrahim, when Evelyn got the opportunity of representing Kenya at Miss World 2016, she reflected, “I am excited to be Miss World Kenya 2016; the journey ahead is tough with such a short time, but I appeal to the public to support me both towards my international competition and my Beauty with a Purpose project of advocating against Female Genital Mutilation in our beautiful country.”

Evelyn Njambi has worked with the Red Cross Chapter in Kiambu, where she donated text books and uniform to needy children alongside distributing sanitary towels to girls.

The Miss World Kenya Organization after announcing Evelyn as their new representative expressed in a press release, “Evelyne is a diligent lady, and although she has her work cut out for her, we are confident she will rise to the occasion and represent the country well at the Miss World Finals in December.”

Kenya last placed at Miss World pageant in 2014 through Idah Nguma, who was adjudged as the Top 11 semi-finalist at Miss World 2014, alongside grabbing the Fastrack award of “Beauty with a Purpose” and finishing as a Top 5 finalist at Miss World Beach Beauty Fastrack event.

Kenya has never reached beyond the semi-finals at Miss World pageant. Do you think the newly crowned Miss World Kenya, Evelyn Njambi will write a venerable history for Kenya this year?
